How it works

Set up in about 2 minutes

TVDL runs in Apple's Shortcuts app, which is already on your iPhone. You only do this once.

  1. Step 1: Enter your email

Tap Get the free shortcut and enter your email. We send you a download link.

  2. Step 2: Add it from the email

Open the email on your iPhone or iPad, tap Get TVDL 4.1, then tap Add Shortcut.

  3. Step 3: Allow it once

The first time you save a video, iOS asks for permission. Tap Always Allow and you are set.

Frequently asked questions

TVDL (The Video Downloading Tools) is a free iOS Shortcut, a small automation that runs on your iPhone. Once you add it, TVDL appears in the share menu so you can save videos from X (Twitter), Bluesky, Mastodon, and more straight to your Camera Roll. No separate app, no account.

Yes! The basic version of TVDL is completely free. We also offer TVDL Pro with additional features like multi-engine fallback and dedicated servers starting at $4/month, or a one-time lifetime payment.

TVDL 4.1 supports X (Twitter) including threads and quoted tweets, Bluesky, and Mastodon, all in a single shortcut. TVDL Pro saves from 9 apps: everything free, plus Instagram and TikTok, plus Threads, Facebook, Reddit, and Kuaishou in beta. Pro saves TikTok without the watermark and Instagram reels and video posts in HD.

After verifying your email, you'll receive a download link for TVDL 4.1. Tap the link on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac to open it in the Shortcuts app, then tap 'Add Shortcut'.

Absolutely. The shortcut runs on your own phone, and we never store the videos you download. The only personal data we keep is the email used to send you the shortcut and occasional updates, which you can unsubscribe from anytime.

We use email verification to prevent abuse and ensure you receive the correct shortcut link. We'll also send you important updates when we release new features or fix critical issues (a few times per year, max).

TVDL is a free iOS Shortcut, created in 2018, that downloads videos from X (Twitter), Bluesky, and Mastodon directly to the iPhone Camera Roll through the iOS share sheet. Installation takes about two minutes and requires email verification, with no account, no ads, no separate app. TVDL Pro adds videos and photos from Instagram and TikTok, plus Threads, Facebook, Reddit, and Kuaishou in beta, watermark-free for TikTok and in HD for Instagram, plus multi-engine fallback that automatically retries alternative extraction engines when one fails.
